War of Genesis: Idle Loot: How to Tell If a New Item Is Better

There is no trustworthy tier list in Early Access. Use four checks instead: slot, grade, item level and rolled options, in that order.

There is no trustworthy “best weapon” list right now. The game only entered Early Access on September 10, 2026, the developer has published no ranking, and most tier lists you will find actually belong to the mobile game War of Genesis: Idle Heroes. What you can use is a decision order: slot → grade → item level → rolled options. Fill empty slots before comparing anything.

Why there cannot be a credible ranking yet

Three things stack up to make “best gear” unanswerable at this stage:

  1. Not enough time. The game launched on 2026-09-10. Nobody has the sample size to say which item is stronger across different stages of progression.
  2. Same grade still diverges. The market carries many items of the same grade in the same slot — under Lv.30 Weapon you will find Hellfire Bow (Tier 4), Rapid Staff (Tier 4) and Sylphid (Tier 4/5/3) at once. Rolled options clearly create real differences, so “higher grade wins” is not a rule.
  3. The numbers are unpublished. No official source lists the option pool, its weights or its caps, and no official source explains the return of any given slot.

That is why this page gives you a method instead of an invented ranking. A method keeps working even when no guide has been updated.

The four checks you can actually verify

1. Slot: ask “am I missing one?”

There are 14 slots (weapon, off-hand, helmet, armor, pauldrons, gloves, boots, cloak, belt, ring, necklace, earrings, bracelet, brooch). An empty slot always beats a duplicate, because an empty slot returns zero.

2. Grade: second, not first

Grade is the official rarity ladder, and achievements go up to Tier 6. But grade only says which band an item sits in; it does not say the item suits your current character or level requirements.

3. Item level: can you even equip it?

Items also carry an item level (Lv.1 to Lv.55 in the sample). The official character panel shows level requirements such as Lv.70, Lv.80 and Lv.90, so level gates are real. A high-grade item you cannot equip is worth less than a modest item you can.

4. Rolled options: what separates same-grade items

This is the one part the developer openly describes as variable while publishing no detail. The store copy puts “randomly generated item options” next to “endless item farming” as the core loop. The judgement you can make is whether this item covers the stat you are currently shortest on, not whether it looks expensive.

A checklist for every new drop

Ask these five questions in order, and stop at the first “yes”:

  1. Is any slot empty? → Equip it.
  2. Is it the same slot as something you already wear? → If not, keep both; there is no either/or.
  3. Is its grade higher than what you wear? → If yes, go to 4; if no, go to 5.
  4. Can your level and character requirements equip it? → If yes, swap; if no, queue it for combining.
  5. Do its options cover the stat you are shortest on? → If yes, swap; if no, send it to dismantle.

Handling empty slots and duplicates

  • Empty slots first. Any grade in an empty slot is a net gain.
  • Do not bin duplicates. Same-grade duplicates are combine material; anything that cannot be grouped goes to Dismantle.
  • Do not wait for a perfect item. Balance moves during Early Access, and the cost of waiting is playing with something worse the whole time.
  • Do not treat a higher-grade duplicate as a reason to swap. If the slot is already filled, that duplicate is worth more in the forge than in your bag.

Testing a change safely

Changing your equipped gear costs nothing, but two things matter once the market is involved:

  1. Combine before selling. Sending leftovers into the Equipment Forge is faster and more certain than waiting for a buyer.
  2. Listings cannot be undone. The in-game Marketplace states it plainly: “Once listed, an item cannot be retrieved or delisted.” So confirm an item is genuinely surplus before you list it.

The full slot and grade structure is in weapons and gear, the crafting rules are in synthesis and dismantle, and market risk is covered in Steam Market trading.
