Loot can be sold to other players through the Steam Community Market — that is one of the core designs written into the store page. In game there is a Marketplace panel with Steam Community Market and Steam Inventory tabs plus a List on Market button.

The single most important thing to know is the in-game warning: once listed, an item cannot be retrieved or delisted. Players have also reported on the official forum that items bought on the market did not arrive in game, so the checklist below covers that case.

Why this game has a trading market at all

This is not a bolt-on feature; it is the stated reason the game chose Early Access. The developer writes that a trade-enabled economy, through the Steam Community Market, can only be tested and refined with the market flow and farming balance that real players create together — so they wanted to test it publicly before full release.

The store copy is equally direct about the appeal: “Experience the thrill of trading your hard-earned spoils and filling up your Steam Wallet.”

What that means for you is that market rules and pricing will move during Early Access. The developer lists “stabilise the player-to-player trading system” and “keep tuning the economy” among the full-version goals.

What the in-game Marketplace panel looks like

The Marketplace window in the official store screenshot is structured like this:

ElementContent
TabsSteam Community Market, Steam Inventory
Primary buttonList on Market
Notice one“Once listed, the item can be traded with other Commanders on the Steam Community Market.”
Notice two“Once listed, an item cannot be retrieved or delisted.”

The second notice is the most important line on this page. It means a listing cannot be undone, so the confirmation step before listing is not optional.

The full trading flow

From a drop to money in your Steam Wallet, the path runs like this:

  1. Farm a drop on a stage. The store copy is blunt about it: as you run stages, gear pours in.
  2. Open the in-game Marketplace panel.
  3. Select an item and press List on Market.
  4. Price and confirm the listing on the Steam side. Pricing, fees and listing rules are Valve’s territory, not the game’s.
  5. When it sells, the proceeds go to your Steam Wallet.
  6. If you are the buyer, confirm the item actually arrived in game — delivery happens through in-game mail or storage.

Step 6 is where player reports cluster, so it has its own section below.

Three things to confirm before you list anything

  1. That the item is genuinely surplus. Listings cannot be undone. That is a hard rule.
  2. That it is not combine material. Same-grade items feed the forge, and the forge’s ceiling is higher (achievements confirm Tier 6). The rules are in synthesis and dismantle.
  3. That you accept Early Access price movement. The developer lists economy balance as work in progress.

A checklist for a purchase that never arrives in game

On 2026-09-11 the official forum carried two directly relevant threads: one titled “The item doesn’t appear in the marketing, it doesn’t appear in the game.” and one in Chinese reporting that gear bought on the Steam Market never arrived in the in-game mail.

No official source explains this, so the following is a troubleshooting order, not a developer-published fix:

  1. On the Steam side, confirm the trade completed and the item is in your Steam inventory.
  2. Restart the game client so it re-syncs.
  3. Check the in-game mail and storage screens, which are where delivery lands.
  4. Check the official Steam forum for a matching announcement — the developer says changes are communicated through Steam announcements.
  5. File a ticket through the official support form: https://genesis-idleloot.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

What is actually on the market

The figures below come from the Steam Community Market search API and were verified on 2026-09-11:

  • 393 tradeable listings for this app in total;
  • sampling 196 of them, the categories covered Goods (such as Gold Bar and Diamond Pouch), Jewel (such as Advanced Jewel of Destruction), Gear, Gacha, plus all 14 equipment slots;
  • item levels ranged from Lv.1 to Lv.55 and grades from Tier 3 to Tier 5.

Two things to keep in mind: listing counts and prices are volatile, so this wiki avoids stating them as fixed facts, and this page gives no price advice, no profit promises and no “farm for income” framing. Trading outcomes are the player’s own call.

One unconfirmed claim

A pre-launch creator video described a mechanic where unidentified items could be traded, and would bind and leave the market once identified. That claim does not appear in the official store page, the official announcements or the official screenshots, so this wiki records it as community-level information and does not present it as a rule.

What is not published

  • market fees, listing cooldowns and listing slot limits;
  • whether direct player-to-player trading (outside the market) is supported;
  • the cause of missing deliveries and their official fix status;
  • per-item drop weights.

The free-versus-paid boundary is covered in free and paid content, and item judgement in best gear and stat priority.
